What is the “promise” of the Promised Land?

As we continue in our Old Testament overview, we come to that moment that God’s Old Testament people Israel had been waiting for: going into the Promised Land. Yet, what is the real “promise” they look forward to in all this?

Today there is much made of that strip of land located at 31 degrees north and 34 degrees east. Many fights and quarrels, many people claim this is their special land.

But the Bible shows us that even for the people of Israel back then, it’s not about the land – it’s about something, someone, even better.
